The Lions had not won the first race of the season since 2017

On the night è officially began the NFL 2023 regular season, or the most watched American football league in the world. Great anticipation to see the Kansas City Chiefs, aka the reigning World Champions, at work. In a sold-out Arrowhead Stadium, surprisingly, the success è went to the Detroit Lions who won 21-20 at the end of a vibrant contest.

Decisive was the play, with 7'11 to go, by former Chicago Bears running back David Montgomery. It was a touchdown that sealed the deal, giving the Lions their first win in a season opener since as far back as 2017.

So much disappointment in the Chiefs house. The defending champions were keen to start the new season with a convincing victory, instead they showed several structural problems, in addition to a Mahomes not in great form and without the help needed to be able to make a difference on the field (however, on record, 21/39 with 226 yards thrown, two TDs and an interception). Kansas City had not lost the "first" since 2014. It will serve " a prompt redemption in the next season fixture, which is next September 17 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
