Rafael Nadal blurts out retirement

During an interview at the microphones of "Movistar", Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal è bluntly spoke out about the process of recovery from injury and possible retirement from the court.

"It's possible that 2024 will be my last year, but I can&#39t confirm it 100% because I don&#39t know. I can&#39t wait to play again and try to get competitive again. I don&#39t want people to misunderstand, it&#39s not about winning Roland Garros or the Australian Open, I don&#39t think it&#39s impossible but the priority&#39s; è getting back on the court" began the Spanish tennis player.

"Last June 2, I had hip surgery and since then I have been doing other things besides tennis, things I never had the chance" to do. I went through different phases, but now I am trying to enjoy life. When I made the announcement of my stop, I didn&#39t know I had to have surgery, and I have to say that since the injury it&#39s always been harder. There hasn&#39t been a moment of tranquility, sometimes the results mask the suffering and the everyday reality" continued the 22-time Slam champion.

"I needed to stop, initially I thought I would be able to recover then I realized that the problem was more serious than expected. After the operation it took me several months to recover. I had to take off for a while and had a chance to spend time with my family. In tennis as in all sports you have to deal with insurmountable difficulties. One of them è age; and when you are ahead it becomes hard. I can not say what goals I have, I am in the middle of a recovery process and I do not know how things will go" added the Spaniard about recovery from the injury.

In conclusion Rafael Nadal è dwelt on the performance of Carlos Alcaraz: "He has the potential to win everything. But if I had to give him advice, it would be to keep improving".
