Champions League: Sporting Braga-Napoli 1-2, Real Sociedad-Inter 1-1

The first round of Champions League 2023/24 closes without defeat for Italian teams. After the draws of AC Milan and Lazio on Tuesday, come a success, that of Napoli 2-1 at home to Sporting Braga, and another draw, that of Inter on the field of Real Sociedad 1-1.

The Parthenopeans thus restart their adventure in the top European competition with three points: to the advantage signed by Di Lorenzo in the recovery of the first half (winning conclusion under the crossbar), the Portuguese replied at the 84th minute with the goal scored by Bruma’s header, but an awkward deflection in their own goal by Niakaté on Zielinski’s low cross in the 88th minute allowed the Parthenopeans to win a brilliant success.

For Inter, fresh from its five-goal derby win, the match against Real Sociedad got off to an uphill start, due to Mendez’s goal that came after a defensive ingenuity by Bastoni on 4'. At 88'88' è forò Lautaro Martinez to fix the score at 1-1, ending in the best possible way an action that started with a confusing back-and-forth in the box.

In the other match in Napoli’s group, Group C, Real Madrid narrowly beat a tenacious Union Berlin (Bellingham’s goal in 94' was decisive), while in Group D, Inter’s, Salzburg got the better of Benfica’s field 2-0 (Simic scored in 15' and Gloukh in 51').
