Italy beats Germany and still hopes for Olympic qualification
After Poland’s success today over the United States, Italy had no choice but to win against Germany, and it did. Davide Mazzanti’s Azzurri won 3-0 in the penultimate game of the pre-Olympic in Lodz, and tomorrow they will again be obliged to win against the Polish hosts.
25-20, 25-22, 25-15 the partials of the sets in favor of our players. In the first set they immediately took control of the situation and came several times to have a lead of seven lengths, the last one on 23-16, and then closed the partial at the second set point.
The second set è the most suffered, becauseé although Mazzanti’s girls flew to +6 at the beginning of the partial, they were caught up and the Germans even went ahead on 20-19 but from 21-21 Italy managed to find the decisive stretch and then dominate the third set after a short-lived initial advantage of our opponents.
Ekaterina Antropova does not make Paola Egonue regret putting together 24 points, Myriam Sylla adds 12 and 10 a Marina Lubian literally unleashed in the third set in which she filled with aces the Germans who had cheered in her face after a winning point.
