Ferrari, Frederic Vasseur realistic: “Hard to do better”
In spite of the steps back from Singapore, the mood remains good.
Ferrari fourth and sixth at Suzuka, with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz finishing ahead of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, respectively. But team principal Frederic Vasseur does not want to hear of a step backward from the Singapore victory, saying that the mission set for Japan è has been achieved: to beat Mercedes.
"For sure, when you finish fourth and sixth, you cannot be completely happy,” admitted Vasseur at the end of the day, intercepted by 'Sky Sport F1' -. Però we are getting closer to Mercedes in the standings, and today it was difficult to do better than that. The strategy we chose was right and things went quite well. We managed to control the tire degradation and there was no lack of positive signs".
Ferrari's goal è to hit second place in the constructors world championship, and on this Vasseur did not è hide. "The battle with Mercedes and McLaren è very balanced – he noted -. What we have to do è not get caught up in optimism or pessimism after a single result. We have to keep calm. Now we have to think about the next one, because we always chase performance. Already here in Japan, in qualifying, with a few hundredths less we would have started from the front row".
