Max Verstappen immediately ahead in FP1 in Qatar, good for Ferrari

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen set the fastest time in the first and only free practice session of the Qatar Gp in 1:27.428, ahead of the Ferraris of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, 334 and 481 thousandths apart respectively. Placing fourth, however, is Fernando Alonso's Aston Martin.

Completing the Top 10 are Sergio Perez (Red Bull), Yuki Tsunoda (Alpha Tauri), Niko Hulkenberg (Haas), George Russell (Mercedes), Oscar Piastri (McLaren) and Lando Norris (McLaren). Not è gone beyond 13th place, however, was the other Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton.
