It's official the divorce between the Italian Volleyball Federation and coach Davide Mazzanti. After the disappointing European Championships and the failure to qualify directly for the Olympics, the coach is leaving the leadership of the Azzurre for good. Expected in the coming days is the announcement of the new coach, which will also determine the blue future of other stars currently excluded such as Paola Egonu.
"The Italian Volleyball Federation and coach Davide Mazzanti announce that they have mutually agreed to terminate their relationship. After the meeting that took place in Caorle, during the Federal Council meeting, the Fipav and the coach from the Marche region determined that there were no longer any prerequisites to continue their journey together.
In an atmosphere of general emotion, all members of the Federal Council listened yesterday with great attention and participation to Mazzanti's impassioned speech, which reviewed the seven years of his tenure and in particular the last season. At the end of the report, the CF gave Mazzanti a sincere and warm applause".
"The adventure on the Azzurri bench of the Marche coach, in office from 2017 to 2023, è coincided with one of the most successful periods of the women national team. In fact, under his leadership the Azzurri have won: 1 Gold at the 2021 European Championships, 1 Gold at the 2022 Volleyball Nations League, 1 Silver at the 2018 World Championships, 1 Silver at the 2017 World Grand Prix, 1 Bronze at the 2022 World Championships and 1 Bronze at the 2019 European Championships".
"At the end of this common path, President Manfredi and the entire Federal Council would like to emphasize, towards Davide, the esteem and appreciation for his human and technical qualities, thanking him for his excellent work and at the same time wishing him the best of luck for his professional future".
