The Blue comes to Philipp Island with an 18-point lead over the Spaniard
.
Thanks to Martin's crash in Indonesia and simultaneous victory on the track, Bagnaia è returned to lead the World Championship, with a +18 over his direct opponent Martin. The weekend sees the Australian GP, yet another confrontation between the two MotoGP stars.
"On this track è it is important to manage the rear tire as well as possible, and then push in the last laps. It's difficult to break away from the group if you haven't built up a good lead at the start", the words of the reigning World Champion in the traditional Thursday riders'press conference.
The world leader è was asked to list Martin’s strengths and weaknesses: "Martin’s strengths? He's good in traction, in acceleration. He has no weaknesses, maybe he could improve in braking". The Spaniard's response was not long in coming: "He's the opposite of me: " very good in braking, but maybe he loses something in traction". In short, two different styles for two riders who are playing for the 2023 World Championship. At Phillip Island, yet another confrontation on the track.
