It’s closed on Sunday, October 22, the voting for the ATHLETE OF THE YEAR, which, as every year, will be announced during Skipass Modena on Sunday, October 29, around noon, during the traditional Festa degli Azzurri. A large number of winter sports fans participated in the initiative (more than 90 thousand votes reached the atletafisi@fisi.org box). Out of the thirteen initial candidates including Bagnis Amedeo (skeleton/bob artificial slope), Bassino Marta (alpine skiing), Bormolini Maurizio (snowboarding), Dellagiacoma Tommaso (skiroll), Deromedis Simone (freestyle), Fischnaller Dominik (luge artificial slope) Iori Andrea (grass skiing), Lanthaler Evelyn (luge artificial slope natural track), Mocellini Simone (cross-country skiing), Murada Giulia (ski mountaineering), Origone Simone (ski speedà), Sieff Annika (ski jumping/northern combined) and Lisa Vittozzi (biathlon), there are only three left to play for the succession of the Brignone/Goggia duo, tied queens in 2022.

The three papable candidates are:

BASSINO MARTA (ALPINE SKI, Army Sports Center) – She won the gold medal in the women’s super-giant at the World Championships in Meribel, finishing third in the World Cup giant slalom ranking thanks also to the victory in Sestriere, totaling seven podiums for the season.

DEROMEDIS SIMONE (FREESTYLE, Gruppo Sciatori Fiamme Gialle) – Her climb è unstoppable: after silver at the World Junior Championships two years ago and fifth place at the Olympics in Beijing 2022, she won the first gold medal in history for Italy in the Bakuriani rainbow skicross.

VITTOZZI LISA (BIATHLON, Centro Sportivo Carabinieri) – She experienced a season full of awards with third place in the women’s World Cup overall standings, success in the individual standings, all topped off with ten podiums overall and four medals in the World Championships in Oberhof
