Luca Secchi recounts his terrible days in Israel

Piero Giannico, for Tuttosport, interviewed Luca Secchi. C’he was also the current coach of Israel's U18 women&#39s team in Tel Aviv when Hamas launched, among other things, a rocket barrage from the Gaza Strip on October 7.

"That morning I realized that something catastrophic was happening. I stayed in my apartment-bunker for three days to live on supplies I had bought as a spare. There was no way out of the country, everything blocked and with a bit of luck I found on Oct. 10 a Tel Aviv-Larnaca (Cyprus) flight and then the direct to Rome. The airport was unapproachable, I managed to reach it from a side road accompanied by a friend in the car who knew the area well. I was so scared" he recounted.

"I did not fear to die becauseé I consider Israel my second home and no one would hurt me,” he added.

I felt trapped and treacherous. Trapped becauseé you do not know what is going on in the streets. You have the armed terrorists coming into your house, kidnapping people, killing babies. Traitor becauseé you want to escape and go back to Italy".

"I felt small. In Italy we insure cars against atmospheric phenomena, lì insure cars against missile pieces that can fall on you'car" then Secchi pointed out.
