The words of Vincenzo Santopadre

Vincenzo Santopadre, now former coach of Matteo Berrettini, spoke about the end of the association with the Roman tennis player.

He did so with a long post on Istagram: “Matt, indeed ni, like you I was undecided whether to put pen to paper. As I wrote to you yesterday the risk was to “pollute” that wonderful flow of our magic, to freeze that spark that è started in September 2010 (field no.5 of the’Aniene: you and Jacopo half feverish at the “audition”….I remember it like it was yesterday!) but this time too we finally fit and so here I am! Here I am writing to thank you for the path we took; a path that very few people know in depth and whose complicity, which I jealously guard, è is ours alone (don’t hold it against team members, relatives, friends, acquaintances and others)".

"That complicityà that did, does and willà sì that we often don’t need to talk to understand each other. That complicityà that in the passage of time has made us bigger and dare I say better people. That complicityà made of esteem, respect, understanding, acceptance that has led us to never argue! ..it seems impossible, but è soì!…indeed now that I think about it we argued several times to joke with the unfortunate victims on duty! We helped each other grow and for that I am grateful. We built over time a healthy, positive, winning relationship (and as you know I am not talking about ace on break balls). We have also worked; worked for us, for our getting better, for our getting well, for patiently chasing (the famous bricks…)our dream, without wasting a moment. With seriousness and lightness we lived everything intensely and deeply. I think we have made 13, at least thatì the numbers of the years spent so far in and out of that rectangle also say so! Vabbè ni, we have shared everything and also this choice that we think is the best. I am always there with you and for you. You daje giù, that for that academy there’s no rush. I love you".
