Novak Djokovic makes 40 in Masters 1000: beat Dimitrov in Paris-Bercy
Novak Djokovic triumphs in Paris-Bercy
Novak Djokovic triumphs in Paris-Bercy, winning the Paris title for the seventh time and reaching 40 in the Masters 1000. The Serbian champion defeated Grigor Dimitrov in the final with a score of 6-4 6-3 after one'hour and thirty-eight minutes of play.
After a more complicated start for Djokovic, who was forced to the advantages at the serve in the fourth game, it was Dimitrov who was the first to give up the serve at the first useful opportunity for the Serb: in the seventh game, a free error with the Bulgarian’s backhand allowed Nole to gain the break advantage, which he kept until the 6-4 final.
Things did not change in the second partial, in which the break for Djokovic è came already in the fifth game, again thanks to an unforced backhand error by Dimitrov. The Bulgarian è however, was good at avoiding the knockout blow on 2-4, but Djokovic did not tremble on serve and closed 6-3 on the first match point.
With his success in Paris, Djokovic è became the tennis player with the most Masters 1000 titles in history, between singles and doubles, edging out the Bryan twins. For Novak, it is also the 97th career trophy, -6 behind Roger Federer. In short, a nice calling card ahead of the ATP Finals in Turin, scheduled for November 12-19, where the Serb will start, once again, as the favorite.
