Dominik Paris highlights the main obstacles on the Cervinia slope
The words of Dominik Paris after the first round of the Matterhorn-Cervino
It's Austrian Omar Stredinger's best time in the first run of the Zermatt-Cervinia downhill. the Villach native stopped the stopwatch at 2:05.93, ahead of Italian Benjamin Jacques Alliod and Swiss Niels Hintermann, 32 and 37 thousandths distant respectively. Good fourth place for Italy's Florian Schieder.
Completing the top 10 are Chile’s Henrik Von Appen, Finland’s Elian Lehto, USA’s Sam Morse, Switzerland’s Stefan Rogentin, Italy’s Mattia Casse and Canada’s James Crawford. Dominik Paris finished in 22nd place, while he did not go beyond 68th place Christof Innerhofer.
At the end of the race, Paris himself, in words reported by Fisi, analyzed the slope: "It’ difficult for everyone to understand well a slope that we still have to study. The first run however è done, there’è some pretty nice jumps. In the first section it freezes a bit’, and the snow very cold and è slow, there’è not much speed in general. It’s pretty easy to ski. If you don’t do so well you lose so much right away. In the middle part there are waves and it’s easy to make a mistake. A lot of people missed a gate, that’s why they had more speed è. In the final part è a bit ’ flat, the jumps maybe should have thrown a bit more. However, as first feelings, the track is fine as it isì”.
"Wind on the track there wasn't any, but it was difficult to be fast becauseé it was all to study. However, for me è it was a good test, but we will see in the coming days how things will go" this, however, the thoughts of Florian Scheider.
