ATP 250 Metz, Fabio Fognini swept into semifinals
Fabio Fognini’s run in the ATP 250 on the indoor concrete of Metz ends in the semifinals.
The 36-year-old Ligurian from Arma di Taggia, after overwhelming Lorenzo Sonego 6-1 6-2 in the quarterfinals, scrapes even one game down, 6-0 6-2, against 25-year-old Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the host in every way since he è was born right in the capital of the Moselle department, the river that also gives its name to this open tournament.
The match è lasted a little more than an hour and Fognini, currently number 147 in the world, finally won a game on 6-0 1-0 for his opponent who è number 23, held out until 2-2 saving two break points then the match had no more history, if he had one.
