Spalletti spurs the Azzurri: "Nullify all fears"
Italy's head coach Luciano Spalletti spoke to Sky on the eve of the decisive European Championship qualifying match against Ukraine.
"We know what we are going to play. Many want to put fear in us by reminding us of the importance and goal of the match. Motivation goes beyond fear. The question to ask ourselves è another one: 'Do I have to win it? Do I want to win it? '. But everyone says that. To be more realistic: 'Can I win it? Yes;'. That nullifies all those fears that are there and that go before the race".
Spalletti asks the team to "not lose order and balance. They have the’attack as the strongest department, they could create problems for us by turning the’action over. When there’è the possibility’ and the right distances we will be able to press them, if the distances get longer we will have to concede the field and lower ourselves but without leaving spaces that then become difficult to reoccupy with retreats and recompositions".
Jorginho’s situation: "The penalty he rebounded it becauseé he has personality; he also beat it well because of the way the goalkeeper had set himself. Maybe he could angle it more, but his characteristic of beating penalties è this. We also have other penalty takers, maybe we would put him in trouble by sending him back to the penalty spot as I had done playfully in a press conference the other day. Other situations are also evaluated. As a director he has organization not only with the ball, but also by pointing out positions to his teammates. And then he has personality; he è used to managing the team".
