Nereo Bonato speaks out
Nereo Bonato, Cagliari sports director, confirmed in an interview with 'L'Unione Sarda' that he did not regret the market choices made in the summer, despite a difficult start to the season, and also confirmed that he did not want to make any major changes of direction ahead of January.
"The societyà – said the d.s. rossoblù – has made important efforts to build this rose, with the goal of reaching salvation. We have all owned playersà except in three cases, for which we still have the right of redemption".
"There have been very few who have made a choice similar to ours – hja added. The feeling è that we have unexpressed potential, footballers who will prove useful from here on. January market? We have to figure it out, but to change so much for the sake of change is useless".
Cagliari, at the November break, had collected 9 points in 12 games, a roster worth the third last place, -1 from the salvation zone. The latest results have been però encouraging: defeat against Juventus aside, the islanders had scored 7 points in the previous 3 matches, against Salernitana (2-2), Frosinone (epic comeback from 0-3 to 4-3) and Genoa (2-1). Also in between was qualification for the round of 16 of the Coppa Italia, achieved by beating Udinese in the last minute of extra time (2-1).
