F1, Ferrari: Charles Leclerc incredulous
F1, Ferrari: Charles Leclerc in disbelief
After his super performance in Abu Dhabi qualifying, which he closed in second place behind Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc said: "Given the weekend so far, I did not expect the front row at all. I knew I had to push hard and put everything together, the last corner we slipped a little too much, but I think it happened to everyone".
"I am very happy with this second place. In Q1 and Q2 I was worried about passing the cuts, I was afraid I wouldn’t make it. Instead, then we did well. For some reason our car struggles more with used tires. But when we put on the new tires everything comes alive and the car givesà good feeling. I am happy to have taken the front row. For me è a big surprise. Struggle with Mercedes? I hope it goes well, the goal è that. I hope Carlos also starts well and can get closer to me. We try to put both our cars ahead of both Mercedes to bring home second place in the Constructors. That's the only thing that matters to me this weekend".
"I think it is a half miracle, we struggled so much from FP3 to Q2. Being on the front row è a great result and gives us hope for second place in the constructors, my only motivation right now. McLaren and Red Bull will be strong in the race, but it all matters tomorrow and the only thing that interests me è finishing ahead of Mercedes. If there is an opportunity to win, I will take it,” Leclerc concluded.
