Ferrari, John Elkann reassures on the future of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz
The 2023 season è was decidedly below expectations for Ferrari, which also saw second place in the constructors world championship slip away at the hands of Mercedes in the last race in Abu Dhabi. One of the few notes of merit è Carlos Sainz’s victory in Singapore, which prevented Red Bull from making the en-plein and winning all the GPs of the season. On the sidelines of Exor's Investor Day, Cavallino Rampante chairman John Elkann, among other topics discussed, dwelt on the future of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, whose contracts will expire in 2025.
"Sainz and Leclerc will remain here even after 2025. From our side there'è total willingnessè to continue with them. The 2023 season è was disappointing, because we came third in the Constructors’ World Championship and almost came second. On the other hand, as far as the Drivers’ World Championship is concerned, we were not able to be competitive, due to a few too many accidents and strokes of bad luck. In the last part of the season, however, we were also able to compete with Red Bull and made many poles. Now we have to restart from this and push even harder in the coming years in the hope of being able to convert these pole positions into wins and fight for the title" said the Ferrari president as reported by "Italpress".
On the sidelines of the Investor Day, in addition, the Stellantis chairman also wanted to analyze the moment being experienced by Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus: "Max is doing very well and we hope he will bring us many more trophies. Now we have to look at one game at a time. We hope Spalletti is right and Chiesa is our Jannik Sinner, but the road è long for us to reach goals comparable to the Davis Cup. A point against Inter è an important result. The championship è still long and there are very strong teams. Seeing Juventus so high confirmed how important it was to solve the internal problems, because when there are no external worries you can work better and there are more chances to get results".
