Fernando Alonso takes stock of his 2023

Aston Martin and Fernando Alonso have undoubtedly been one of the positive surprises of 2023. The British stable, in fact, è managed to win as many as six podiums in the first eight races thanks to the Spanish driver. A few days after the end of the season, the 42-year-old Iberian wanted to take stock of his first year with the new team culminating with fourth place in the World Drivers’ Championship.

"I only see positive aspects. These difficulties are part of the job and I am part of the journey of this team. I think we started very strong with the car that è been surprisingly competitive. We were maybe in a position that we were not ready for, fighting with Mercedes, Ferrari and McLaren, the top teams that are used to fighting at that level. Maybe we took a little step backward in terms of development over the course of the season, we were not able to reach the maximum potential of the car and we were struggling. All in all, I think 12 months ago it was unthinkable to think about the season we had. I remember perfectly the tests carried out last year in Abu Dhabi with the team" said the Spanish driver as you canò read on "FormulaPassion".

"Bahrain, Canada, Monaco, Monza and Brazile will always be my top five events of the year. I put Monza on purpose becauseé we got a ninth place. It wasn&#39t a podium, it wasn&#39t anything people will remember, but despite having one of the slowest cars on the grid we still managed to finish in the points zone. It was one of those weekends where everything è went for the best" added Fernando Alonso.
