Brisbane: Arnaldi finishes his run, well Rune

Matteo Arnaldi's run in the Brisbane Atp 250 came to a halt in the quarterfinals. The Italian tennis player è was defeated in two sets in Australia by Russian Roman Safiullin, world number 39. Safiullin closed the match under two hours with a score of 7-6, 6-2: the tie-break that ended the first partial was decisive, in the second Arnaldi lost confidence in his serve and gave way to his rival.

For the Azure the consolation of having equaled his best ranking, at position number 41.

Safiullin will face in the semifinals top ten Holger Rune, who beat Australian James Duckworth 6-2, 7-6 respecting the odds. The Dane, number one seed, showed good form.

At the lower end of the scoreboard, Grigor Dimitrov qualified for the semifinals: the Bulgarian quickly folded Australian wild card Rinky Hijikata in two sets with a score of 6-1, 6-4, and will now face the winner of the match between Nadal and the other Australian Jordan Thompson.
