Dramatic announcement by Sven Göran-Eriksson, unforgettable coach of Italian teams such as Roma, Lazio, Fiorentina and Sampdoria. Interviewed in his homeland by P1, the Swedish coach told of having cancer. "At best, I have a year to live,” he explained. “At worst, less".

"It's better not to think too much about what is happening to me, also becauseé no one can say for sure what the course of the disease will be like,” he added, trying to make himself strong. "It's also important to try not to get lost in adversity, even if this è the biggest of all".

"Svennis" who will be 76 next Feb. 5, went on to explain how he found out he was seriously ill. "I was running when I collapsed,” he clarified. “From the investigations at the hospital, I learned that I had suffered a stroke but also that I had cancer".

In his long career, which led him to lift a variety of trophies with club teams, Eriksson è also served as technical commissioner of England, Mexico, Côte d''Ivory Coast and the Philippines. His last assignment was as sporting director of IF Karlstad Fotboll, a minor Swedish formation.
