According to Brand, the "delay" è was due to an unforeseen snag in Mauritius

Not an easy situation for Benzema. The former Real Madrid striker has reportedly failed to show up at Al-Ittihad’s training camp, Saudi sources say. The club is about to play a mini-tournament to keep fit ahead of its return to the field (Saudi Pro League halted for the Asian Cup of Nations, will return to play in late February). Tournament without its star Benzema on the field.

So many media are talking about a breakup between the club and Benzema. After only five months in Saudi Arabia, the French Ballon d'Or has not fully convinced, even receiving heavy criticism (especially after the recent defeat in the big match with CR7's Al-Nassr). Since the end of the year, Benzema è "disappeared" even removing himself from the social world. Now also the no-show at the retreat.

Actually, according to Marca reports, there would be a motivation. Benzema was reportedly stranded in Mauritius, where he was relaxing, by a cyclone that prevented him from returning to Saudi Arabia and reporting to coach Gallardo’s orders. Developments are awaited, although, to be fair, the relationship between Benzema and Al-Ittihad does not seem to be going swimmingly.
