Canadian Shawn Barber, former pole vault world champion, è died at the age of 29 at his home in Texas: his agent announced.
Shawn Barber at the age of just 21 had won the world title in 2015 in Beijing, clearing 5.90m, and in the same year won his other major international crown at the Pan American Games in Toronto.
Through an instagram message his agent Paul Doyle announced the Canadian athlete's death, without providing details about the circumstances of his death.
"A friend we will never forget. Shawn Barber è died", he wrote. Shawn, still the Canadian indoor record holder at 6 meters and outdoor record holder at 5.93 m, è was also an Olympic finalist in Rio 2016.
