Linus Strasser triumphs in Kitzbuehel, Tommaso Sala in top 10
Linus Strasser on first World Cup success in two years
It's Linus Strasser the winner of the Kitzbuehel special slalom, held on Sunday on the prestigious Ganslern slope: the German, who had not won a World Cup since January 2022, completed the two heats with an overall time of 1:40.36, 14 hundredths faster than Kristoffer Jakobsen and 20 hundredths better than Daniel Yule.
Fourth was the leader of the specialty ranking, Manuel Feller, 79 hundredths off the winner’s time. As for the Italians’ performance, the best è Tommaso Sala, who finished in ninth place with a second and 96 hundredths behind Strasser. Sixteenth was Alex Vinatzer, who was good at recovering five positions in the second run.
"I needed a second run done well,” Sala told official Fisi channels on the sidelines of Sunday’s test, “also for personal satisfaction and to show that I am lucid and still able to keep up with the best. I did a good run but will tryò to improve again".
"I can’t say I’m fully satisfied but this is the best result of the season in slalom, so the direction è the right one – are instead the words of Vinatzer -. In the second one I struggled to find the grip on such a hard ice that maybe we find only in Kitzbuehel and it’s not è immediate to adapt to the conditions".
