Giuliano Musiello è passed away: he was 70

The soccer world mourns the passing on Tuesday, Jan. 23, of Giuliano Musiello, a former soccer player active throughout the '70s and much of the following decade. Musiello had recently turned 70 years old, more precisely last Jan. 11: according to reports from Ansa, the former footballer passed away after a brief illness.

A striker who grew up in the province of Friuli (he was born in Torviscosa, a small town about 35 km from Udine), he made his debut among the "grandi" at Spal, in Serie C, in 1970, moving on to Atalanta two years later for his Serie A debut. In 1973 he was bought by Juventus, a club with which he però took the field only in the Coppa Italia.

After the Juventus year he played another season at Atalanta before moving to Avellino, in Serie B: with the Irpini jersey, in the 1975/76 season, he scored 18 goals, earning the title of top scorer in the cadetteria along with Roberto Pruzzo, then at Genoa.

In 1976 Musiello passò to Roma, where he played two seasons returning to the fields of Serie A, before experiences still in A at Genoa and Hellas Verona, before returning to B settling at Foggia. From 1982 onward he dropped further down the ladder and played with Novara, Ravenna, Cuneo and Savona.
