The words of Zvonimir Boban

Zvonimir Boban with an open letter resigned from Uefa. "I talked and discussed with the president about an issue that arose during the last Executive meeting in Hamburg. It is about a proposal at the Congress next February to change the statutes to allow the president himself to be able to run again after this term that was to be his last".

"After expressing my greatest concern and total disagreement, the president replied that for him there’è no legal noré nor moral ethical problem and that he would pursue his aspiration without any doubt. Paradoxically, in 2017 è it was Ceferin himself who proposed and initiated a package of reforms that clearly denied that possibility: rules that were supposed to protect Uefa and European soccer from the “bad governance” that è has been for years the “modus operandi“of the whole old system".

"È was an extraordinary thing for soccer and also for Ceferin himself. This departure from those values by erasing the most important reforms is surprising and è incomprehensible, especially at this time. I understand very well that nothing è ideal, least of all I, and I know very well that one has to accept the logic of compromise, but faced with this fact, if I accepted it, I would be going against the common principles and values in which I firmly believe. And I doné because I am certainly not the’only one who thinks this way. In these three years the relationship and cooperation with Aleksander and all colleagues in Uefa è has been excellent. I thank them for that wishing them all the best. I am so sorry but, reluctantly, I am leaving Uefa".
