Filippo Volandri has no doubts about Jannik Sinner

Filippo Volandri, during the program 'Tennis Talk' on 'SuperTennis Tv', had his say on the path that led Jannik Sinner, in order of time, to the ATP Top 10, to the conquest of the Davis Cup, with the Italian team captained precisely by Volandri, and to the triumph at the Australian Open, beating Daniil Medvedev in an epic final in which he è was able to come back two sets behind the Russian.

"In the weeks following our Davis Cup victory I was saying that it was only queatione of time – said the non-playing captain of the winning Italian team in 2023, 47 years after Italy&#39s only previous success in the team competition -. But we didn&#39t calculate the speed of Jannik, who has a different tempo from ours".

" Jannik learns most of all from defeats,” Volandri explained, bluntly. “I am reminded of the one against Nadal in Rome, he was young, he was building himself up, yet he was emotionally destroyed. I also remember last year when he lost at Roland Garros, after the match he lost to Altmaier è he came off the court with a mix of feelings: on the one hand not having entered the court with the right determination and on the other hand the knowledge that all this pressure was leading him not to be happy playing those matches".

Volandri then extolled Jannik Sinner’s team: "They are very well coordinated,” he said. “Vagnozzi even during the final made the technical corrections, Cahill does more the emotional part, Naldi and Ferrara the physical part. Everyone has their own role and they work great. I would also like to mention Alex Vittur who è has always been close to Jannik. He's the person that maybe Jannik trusts the most. He showed me him one day in Rome, during the Internazionali BNL d'Italia. I was still playing, he already believed in it so much. He always put him in a position to live and train in a certain way".
