Disconcerting headbutt to Henry, Roberto D’Aversa’s take on it
Tense nerves in Lecce, and in the aftermath of the game an attempt is made to bring order to what happened on the field.
Roberto D'Aversa in the eye of the storm for what happened in Lecce after the delicate match lost to Verona. The coach of the Salentini, as confirmed by television images, è entered the field after the triple final whistle and while the players on the field were discussing è intervened in the first person. In particular, he struck with a disconcerting headbutt the Gialloblù Thomas Henry, at that moment involved in an argument with Marin Pongracic.
"The end of the match è was agitated – reconstructed D'Aversa at the microphones of 'Sky Sport' -. Already; in the last minutes before the conclusion there were provocations. I wanted to prevent my players from getting disqualifications or something like that, so I intervened. At that point Henry and I came into contact. The gesture was not è nice to see, but I was there with the intention of dividing the others. Also becauseé he kept provoking even after the game was over".
"I did not enter the field to give a headbutt,” D'Aversa insisted.
First I wanted to greet Baroni, then avoid prolems to my boys. He è approached, but my intention was not at all to go to Henry. There was no premeditation, absolutely not. I wanted to separate the players. Regardless, however, I reiterate that as a gesture è it was ugly to see. So I have to apologize".
