Paola Egonu top scorer, Vero Volley Milan dominates Champions semifinal first leg

Allianz Vero Volley Milan takes a very important step toward the last act of the Women's Champions League: the girls coached by Marco Gaspari in fact dominated the first leg semifinal against Fenerbahce played Tuesday evening at Allianz Cloud in Milan. 3-0 was the final score, with partials of 25-21, 27-25 and 25-20.
Top scorer of the evening è Paola Egonu with 22 points, but Raphaela Folie’s 16 and Helena Cazaute’s 11 also had a significant weight in the match’s performance. On the other side, 17 points scored by Arina Fedorotseva and 14 put in by Melissa Vargas were not enough against the overpowering Lombard club.
Vero Volleyball, playing with personality from the early stages, was able to react even to the most complex moments: important, for the course of the match, was being able to come back from 21-23 in the second set, taking it to the advantages and closing it 27-25. In general, however, the Turkish team è never went beyond a three-point lead, and in the third and decisive set, after leading 17-16, it succumbed to the home team, which was able to close the match with a 9-3 partial.
The return match, on reversed courts, will be played next Tuesday. As for the other semifinal, however, another challenge between an Italian and a Turkish club, with Conegliano playing the first leg against Eczacibasi at home on Wednesday, while the return leg will be played seven days later, on March 20.
