Oliver Bearman recounts his F1 debut with Ferrari
The Italian version of motorsport.com features statements from Oliver Bearman, who recounted his great emotions he felt in making his F1 debut behind the wheel of a Ferrari in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, hastily called on Friday by the Maranello-based manufacturer after he had taken pole in Formula 2 at the Jeddah circuit on Thursday. Here are his words.
“È a childhood dream come true. To debut in a Ferrari, first of all. È an incredible achievement and I am very proud of that, also to become the youngest British driver è a great achievement and I think I was the third youngest driver ever, which è really fantastic”.
“I tried to get up to speed as quickly as possible. We were able to do a short race run just to try to get a degradation scan and for me also to get a few more laps in. Then I went pretty much straight into qualifying in the dark with the big change in track temperature and grip”.
“I è regretted not being able to hit Q3, but still I think it was a good performance. At least on Saturday in the race, I feel like I was able to prepare a lot better. We had a full day to do it, instead of a couple of d'hours notice. Overall I am quite satisfied with how è the race” went.
