Presented the fourth edition of Coppa delle Alpi, an event that for this year will go beyond the winter regularity race for historic cars to become a Grand Tour of 5 stages that will cross from East to West the entire Alpine arc, crossing the borders of Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Germany and France. Parallel to the’race itinerary, 1000 Miglia has in fact decided to launch the project of The Great Alpine Journey, a path of reflection aimed at representing the socioeconomic, anthropological and environmental transformations of the Alpine macro-region.

In order to make the competitors not only protagonists of the sports competition, but also active participants in the project, the number of competing cars è has been limited to 30 to which will be added 10 crews composed of reference figures on the five macro-themes addressed on the different days: agriculture, crafts, culture, energy and tourism. With the support of the AAster Consortium, which also conducted the preparatory study for the project, in-depth meetings with local institutions and representatives of the best practices of the area of passage will be organized during the lunches and dinners on each day of the race. Joining 1000 Miglia in this project will be the’Università della Montagna, Fondazione Altagamma and the Valle d’Aosta Region. Departing from Trieste, after sporting scrutineering on Sunday, April 28, on Monday, April 29, the crews will climb to Kranjska Gora, the lunch venue, to continue via Tolmezzo to the stage finish in Cortina. On Tuesday, the cars will cross Val Badia on the 30th, stop for lunch at the Messner Museum in Ripa (Brunico), and cross the border into Austria from Innsbruck to Seefeld. The third stage, Wednesday, May 1 will touch Germany in Garmisch, return to Italy for lunch in Livigno and end the stage in Switzerland in Saint Moritz. The morning of May 2 will see a break in Vaduz, capital of Lichtenstein, lunch at the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne and an evening arrival in Gstaad. Friday, May 3 will be the day of the entry into France and lunch in Chamonix before reaching, after more than 1,600 kilometers from the start, the final finish line in Courmayeur, site of the conference on Saturday, May 4.
