Olimpia Milano challenges Mike James’ Monaco: Ettore Messina chooses the line of humility
Olimpia Milan away in Monte Carlo
Olimpia Milano continues to prepare ahead of Wednesday night’s trip to Monte Carlo against Monaco led on the court by Mike James, the evening’s expected ex. Presenting the challenge from the perspective of the Red Shoes è was Ettore Messina, who spoke to the official channels of the meneghina company.
"Monaco è a very strong team, with a lot of talent, and well organized – began the Olimpia coach – I consider it not only a candidate for the Final Four but also capable of winning the title. For us, given also the recent difficulties, this is an extremely complicated competition, which we have to face with humility".
"At the same time, we must have the conviction that we can always be the ones who have been able to play very well against high-level opponents" added Messina, who is aware that the match at the Salle Gaston Médecin represents a crucial crossroads for hopes of staying glued to the play-in train.
With 12 wins and 17 losses with five games to go in the regular season, Olimpia in fact still has some hope of latching on to tenth place (currently the preserve of Partizan, which won 13 games while losing 16), which would allow it to play in the mini-tournament that the Euroleague has introduced on the NBA model, a formula that involves teams from seventh to tenth position and designates the last two qualifiers for the quarterfinals.
