Miami, Lorenzo Musetti tries but Carlos Alcaraz does not get distracted
The world number 2 will now face Dimitrov
Musetti's adventure at the Miami Masters 1000 stops in the round of 16. The Carrarese player plays a good match against Alcaraz but, in the end, è forced to raise the white flag. The Spaniard è imposed himself with a double 6-3 (in 86' match total), thus gaining the pass to the quarterfinals of the tournament where, waiting for him, there è the Bulgarian Dimitrov. Ninth win in a row for the world number 2.
"The last meeting with Dimitrov I lost. We were in Shanghai. I know he is a very talented and tough player. It will be difficult to beat him on this surface. I am aware of that. I will try to play my best tennis and bring home the victory. Right now I am in a very good moment, both professionally and personally", Alcaraz’s words reported by the Spanish media AS.
Despite the defeat, Musetti still considers himself satisfied with his path in the tournament: "It’ was a positive and unexpected week. I came here with low expectations, I was just thinking about playing and then it è turned into the best result of the year, both in terms of result and in terms of tennis expressed. I am happy, this sport has taught me that things can change from one moment to another, now the hope è to be able to bring this Lorenzo also in the next tournaments", his words in the post match. Now Musetti will focus on clay where he aims to further improve his level.
