Acerbi has nothing to celebrate: ‘We all lost’
Defender addresses Juan Jesus: "Nothing against him"
Now that è the sentence has come, Acerbi è lifts a great weight off his shoulders. In a lengthy interview with Corriere della Sera, the Nerazzurri defender wanted to tell how he has lived through these decidedly complicated days: "We all lost, I am sad and sorry. After my acquittal last Tuesday, people around me reacted as if I got out after ten years in jail", his clear words.
After reiterating his point of view, Acerbi highlighted one detail: "I have never been racist. My idol was George Weah, he was one of the first to call me when I was found to have a tumor". A sentence that says a lot about how Acerbi absolutely wants to untie his name from racism. There'è also a very strong statement: "The illness I faced è was a piece of cake compared to this affair, I was not afraid back then".
Now there's a desire to put the whole affair behind me, maybe even trying to reconnect with Juan Jesus: "I have nothing against Juan Jesus and I am sorry for him as well. But you cannotò call a person a racist for a misunderstood word in the excitement of the game". Acerbiè happy just to be able to be on the field, with his teammates, for the final sprint in the championship: "If and when it comesà the second star canò be there. And with his head held high".
