The words of Marcell Jacobs

Marcell Jacobs gave a long interview to the Guardian in which he è took a few pebbles off his shoe: "The criticism hurt me a lot, it was coming from all sides. Like I was not competing because I was afraid of something. I didn’t go down the track because I wasn’t able to do it. The two years after the Olympics were very difficult".

"I had a problem with my back and sciatic nerve that was difficult to diagnose and solve. In order to be able to defend the Olympic title in Paris forò I realized that I had to have a radical change also emotionally, not only physically".

"I immediately wondered whyé I chose to train alone for so long, doing it in a group è incredibly motivational and right now we are a formation that pushes each other for each other. Obviously then we will compete, but for now we are all rowing on the same side".

Closing remark on Paris 2024: "Winning another gold would be good, but it would not change me or my image much. I was the first Italian to win it in the 100 meters, so what I did will remain historical anyway. I don’t have to show anything to others, only to myself. I only have to show myself what I can do after two and a half years in which è everything" happened.
