Blengini leaves Lube Civitanova

Lube Civitanova announced on Tuesday the resignation by coach Gianlorenzo "Chicco" Blengini. A decision that the Marche-based club said it accepted because, as reported in the club statement, "consistent with what the coach said Sunday night at the end of the test staged at the Kioene Arena".

In the defeat against Padova (3-0 the score in favor of the Venetians), Blengini had taken responsibility for the performance: "We played the worst match of the year – he had declared Sunday night -, we misinterpreted it from the beginning and the responsibility is mine alone because I failed to make the team understand what kind of match we had to play and what kind of approach we have to have in this round".

Blengini, Lube Civitanova explained, decided to resign in an effort to spur a positive reaction in the red-and-whites group ahead of the upcoming playoff commitments for fifth place. For the remainder of the season, Romano Giannini will assume the role of head coach of Lube Civitanova, with Enrico Massaccesi serving as assistant coach.

The club expressed gratitude to Blengini for his commitment and successes with the team, including three Italian championships and an Italian Cup, wishing him the best as he continues his career.
