Giro 2024, Tadej Pogacar pinpoints key stage
Tadej Pogacar è aware of the role of favorite at the Giro d'Italia
This year's will be his first time at the Giro d'Italia, but there are already many fans and insiders who have sewn the role of favorite on him: we are talking about Tadej Pogacar, who after two victories and two second places at the Tour de France and a third place at the Vuelta will also put himself on the line on the roads of the Pink Race.
The Slovenian è is aware that he is the main favorite, but in a press conference he explained that he is in no hurry to wear the pink jersey: "I do not want to take it already in the first days, the goal è is to be in pink in Rome – he said -. We will have to evaluate, day by day, how the race will develop and adapt to situations in an intelligent way".
Pogacar also talked about potential rivals: "There are a lot of top runners and in three weeks a few surprises canò emerge. If I have to name names, I would say that Bardet canò fight for the victory as he is in very good shape, but I would not exclude Thomas, who è prepared on purpose and willà be strong on climbs and time trials".
In terms of the route, Pogacar has clear ideas about what will be the most interesting stage, from his point of view, to try to make a difference: "The stage that fascinates me the most in this Giro è the one that leads to Livigno (the 15th stage, ed.). Other stages also reserve important climbs, I’m thinking of Monte Grappa for example. Some climbs I know because I've trained there. It's a route that I like, overall".
