F1, Lando Norris in heaven: first win in Miami
Also on the podium Leclerc, first point for Alpine
Finally Norris. At GP number 110 of his career, the McLaren driver took the first victory. It happened in Miami, at the end of a GP full of emotions. Decisive was the entry of the Safety Car that, in fact, allowed the Briton to climb to the first position and keep behind Verstappen. Also on the podium Leclerc, third at the finish.
Uncontrollable was the joy of Norris, who had been waiting for this moment since his entry into F1. Always at McLaren, he had, until now, collected 15 podiums but without ever winning a GP: "In the past I made mistakes but, finally, è my time has come. I am happy", his words at the end of the Miami GP.
A well-deserved victory. Note how all the other drivers in the paddock congratulated Norris. Also curious was Verstappen's attitude. Despite being beaten on the track, the World Champion è appeared very smiling on the podium: "I am happy for Lando (Norris, ed.)", his clear words.
The upgrades brought by McLaren to Miami thus made all the difference, allowing Norris to dispel a taboo that was becoming heavy to bear. Also smiling is Alpine, which, with Ocon's 10th place at the finish line, wins what è its first overall point in the World Championship. Now all to Imola for the next round on the track where it will be Ferrari to present itself with a new package of updates.
