It was held today, at the Salone d’Onore of CONI, the FIP Federal Council chaired by Dr. Giovanni Petrucci. The president reported to the Federal Council on the meeting he had last Thursday with Minister for Sports and Youth Andrea Abodi about the establishment of an agency for economic and financial supervision of professional sports clubs. During the meeting, which was attended by the President of the Basketball League Serie A Umberto Gandini, è the Minister’s willingness to take into consideration the observations that emerged during the discussion was noted. The parties involved will adjourn once the final draft is received.

Luigi Datome, already; Head of the Senior Men’s National Team, will be Coordinator of the Men’s National Team Sector activities starting July 1° 2024. The former Blue Captain will carry out deputy functions of the President in the activities of the Men’s Senior National Team. Salvatore Trainotti confirmed as General Director of the National Teams Sector with a part-time position.

On the eve of the first Azzurri event of the 2024 season, the Women’s Pre-Olympic 3×3 Tournament in Debrecen, Hungary (May 16/19), President Petrucci informed the Council that the presentation of the 2024 uniforms of the Men’s and Women’s Senior, Youth and 3×3 National Teams will take place on May 28. The event will take place at the ITA Airways Head Quarter in Fiumicino Airport and will also be an opportunity to announce several activities that the National Teams will develop with federal partners during the summer events.
