Giro d'Italia: Flippo Ganna beats Tadej Pogacar and takes second time trial
Filippo Ganna, bearer of Ineos Grenadiers, won the 14th stage of the Giro d'Italia 107, the 31.2 km Castiglione delle Stiviere-Desenzano del Garda Tudor ITT. The blue cyclist è took the second time trial of the Corsa Rosa, after the Perugia mockery on stage 7. In second and third place were Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) and Thymen Arensman (Ineos Grenadiers), respectively.
Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) remains in the overall leader’s Pink Jersey, with Britain’s Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers) at 3'41" and Colombia’s Daniel Felipe Martinez (Bora – Hansgrohe) at 3'56".
"I suffered a lot today – admitted Ganna after the finish -. Winning in time trial is not è like winning in sprint, you have to wait even two hours and it increases stress. I got very excited after the finish, we are in Italy and for me è special to race in my country, considering also the proximity with the Velodromo di Montichiari that for me è a second home".
"Six time trials won at the Giro is a great result, as ì as is the team’s result, with Thomas and Arensman gaining in the overall standings. Tomorrow will be è an intense day, before a week in which we will have to fight a lot" he commented the blue.
