Ferrari, Vasseur’s regrets: "It could have been a different story, but in Monte Carlo…"
Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur chews bitterly after the Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna closed with Charles Leclerc in third place and Carlos Sainz in fifth. Updates arrived from Maranello made them gain ground on their rivals, but the Cavallino è was forced to settle again. The impression è however, that Red Bull and McLaren are a step away.
This is what Vasseur thinks: "The order on the grid will be different track by track, because it will depend on the set-up and the characteristics of the cars. We will go to Monte-Carlo and Canada, on two totally different tracks, and this will generate different rankings. This è positive for the show and for F1. I don’t want to set new goals for the season, I just want to do a better job than this weekend so we can grow step by step and take the right direction", are the words to Sky.
Vasseur regrets the mistakes made during Saturday’s qualifying: "We have mixed feelings, because" today I think it was impossible to do better than what we did: it was very difficult to overtake. When we were pushing we were able to get close, but then we were overheating the tires and there wasn’t enough difference to overtake. Yesterday we could have done a better job in qualifying, starting in front would have been a different story, but now let’s focus on Monaco".
According to Vasseur finally there'è balance between Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren: "What è is positive for F1 è that there were three teams within six seconds after 60 laps, and that means there’è less than a tenth difference between the three cars. È it was like that yesterday as well and è very good for the future of the championship. We are on the pace and fighting with them, there’è need to take one more step forward for sure, forò every weekend will be different, and I hope that in Monte-Carlo there will be a different outcome".
