Giuliano Razzoli withdraws

Giuliano Razzoli chose the day of Monday, May 20, and the channels of the Italian Winter Sports Federation to announce his retirement from competitive activities: the news of the farewell to alpine skiing competitions by the Olympic champion of the special slalom in Vancouver 2010 comes after the rumors of recent weeks, which, however, had not found confirmation at the official level before today.

"I leave serene,” explains Razzoli, 39 years old on Dec. 18 last year, “because I am happy with how I went through my whole adventure, and I am grateful that I was able to live it. My great good fortune è that I was born in a particular territory for skiing, and I realized that I was able to transmit a lot of emotions to people. But everything I gave me è came back amplified".

"I thank the people in my life who have taught me something, and there have been many, and who have allowed me to grow as an athlete and as a man: my family, my wife, my son, my parents and my sisters. I thank the Federation and the Army Sports Center that supported me and still supports me. The coaches, teammates, sponsors, friends and all the people who have loved me and helped me throughout my life. I also thank the ski world that allowed all this".

In the note published by Fisi, reference is made to a possible farewell race to celebrate Razzoli’s career, although it is only an idea at the moment: "A first appointment è already fixed – reads the statement -: next July 20, friends in Razzolo will organize a big farewell party. Then, the 'Rocket' would like to find an opportunity to say goodbye to the ski world from a race track. It will be seen'".
