MotoGP, Italian GP: Pecco Bagnaia triumphs in Sprint Race

Pecco Bagnaia breaks the tabù Sprint Race, triumphing in the Sprint race of the Italian Grand Prix. The reigning world champion dominated Saturday’s race at Mugello, commanding from the first to the last lap and returning to success in a Sprint race that had been missing for almost a year (Austria 2023). With this success, the Piedmontese rider shortens in the standings on Jorge Martin, who fell four laps from the end and is now 27 lengths distant.

Also gaining points in the standings on Martin is Marc Marquez, riding the Ducati of the Gresini team, who closes in second place, 1.4 seconds behind Bagnaia. Completing the top 3 è the KTM GasGas of rookie Pedro Acosta, who from 2025 will be part of the official KTM team.

An excellent Franco Morbidelli brings his Ducati Pramac to fourth place, ahead of Maverick Viñales's Aprilia. The KTM of Brad Binder, the Ducatis of Fabio Di Giannantonio (VR46 Racing Team) and Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing) and the Aprilia of Aleix Espargaró also score points.
