Luciano Spalletti’s statements ahead of the challenge to Turkey

On the eve of the first pre-European Championship friendly against Turkey, Italy coach Luciano Spalletti, among other topics, was blunt about his feelings ahead of the upcoming start of the competition, where the Azzurri will be called upon to defend the title. In addition, the former Napoli coach wanted to unbalance himself regarding some starters ahead of the challenge against the Balkan team and some players already certain to be called up for the European Championship.

"The feelings are very good, I saw the team working very seriously and attentively, we created the full of possibilities and attentions. There's been stuff one after another all the time and they have developed it well. We can&#39t say we can put it on autopilot but we are on the right track" began the national team coach.

"We are dealing with a very serious group of guys. We send a hug to Francesco Acerbi and Giorgio Scalvini, però then coming here everyone has brought the maximum of availability; like Gatti who è trained consistently at home and as soon as è he was called è came running with shoes in hand. It's a great sign. I feel sorry for those I left out and it won&#39t be easy who to cut ahead of the European Championship. My choices depend not only on the match, but also on how the players train and adapt to the various game situations we try" continued the former Napoli coach.

"Looking ahead to Turkey, the center forward will be Retegui, the goalkeeper Vicario. We will have to evaluate the condition of some of the guys, as we have been pushing these days and someone has experienced a slight fatigue. Iè will make a decision after tomorrowè s finishing. As for the players who will come to Germany, Gatti will come, and Pellegrini has the qualities to be a perfect number 10, just like Barella who has the plays that take you by surprise" added the former Roma man.

"Turkey has quality, flair, they have scorching restarts and sneer, they have players who play in the biggest teams in the world and they came first in the group. It's an important game that becomes difficult because of what è the moment, because of the work we have done and because of what we have to fix. But we have everything to start our journey: when you wear this jersey you have to respect the passion of those who believe in us" concluded Luciano Spalletti.
