Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani to the quarters in doubles
After reaching the quarterfinals in the women’s singles draw, Jasmine Paolini continues to dream in the doubles as well: the pair composed of the 28-year-old from Castelnuovo di Garfagnana and Sara Errani won in fact access to the quarterfinals, after beating in a literally one-sided match the duo formed by Russian Amina Anshba and Czech Anastasia Detiuc.
6-2, 6-0 was the result in favor of the two Italians, who closed their match valid for the round of 16 in 66 minutes: the two opponents practically resisted until 3-2 in the first set, before leaving the field open to Paolini and Errani, who were good at never losing their concentration until the end of the match.
Already known are the two opponents that the Italian athletes will challenge in the quarterfinals: they are the pair formed by the American Emma Navarro and the Russian Diana Shnaider, who in their eighth defeated the Spanish Cristina Bucsa and the Romanian Monica Niculescu in a comeback, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
As a pair, Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini have already won three tournaments on the WTA circuit: in 2023 they won in Monastir in the final against Mai Hontama and Natalija Stevanovic, while in 2024 they triumphed first in Linz against Nicole Elichar-Martinez and Ellen Perez and then at the Internazionali d'Italia last May, beating Coco Gauff and Erin Routliffe in the final act.
