Fernando Alonso: venomous dig at Ferrari and Charles Leclerc
Fernando Alonso: controversy erupts with Ferrari and Charles Leclerc
Controversy erupts between Fernando Alonso and Ferrari after free practice at the Canadian Grand Prix. In Montreal, the rain-influenced FP2 lead did not soothe the two-time world champion, who lashed out via radio at Charles Leclerc and the Maranello team over a track issue. The Monegasque driver allegedly got in the way of the Spaniard of the Aston Martin during FP2, going through the last corner too slowly without thinking about the other drivers.
Alonso felt the behavior was too dangerous, è he è vented via radio: "Leclerc è the slowest of all in the ’last corner. No mirrors. This è typical of Ferrari", è the Spaniard’s venomous tirade.
Alonso è was a Ferrari driver from 2010 to 2014, twice coming close to the title. Since then, relations between the Asturian and Ferrari have been rather strained.
Leclerc commented on his performance after free practice as follows: "We did quite a few laps during the day, so è it was good despite the rain. I am looking forward to tomorrow, where we will try to put everything together for qualifying".
