José Mourinho lapidary on Roma and the Italian national team
Interviewed by Portuguese broadcaster RTP3 on the sidelines of the friendly match between the Selecçao and Croatia, José Mourinho launches into predictions on the now upcoming continental tournament.
“I am here to see Livakovic, my goalkeeper, in action. Both Portugal and Croatia are very good teams. The favorites for the European Championships? Everyone thinks like me. Portugal, France, England, Germany and Spain".
But what about the defending champions? According to the Special One, Italy cannot make it to the bottom. "The Italian team,” says Mourinho, “does not have enough talent in this generation, I do not think they will win again".
Then he talks about himself and his latest experiences waiting for the Turkish one on the bench of Fenerbahce. "I missed playing to win,” explains the Special One, “fighting to not be able to lose a single point motivates me: it was not soì neither at Tottenham nor at Roma, even if theì said otherwise. What we achieved at the European level è was a bit out of the box, but at the national level we never managed to compete. Since I left, nothing has è changed in the capital".
What will happen now at Fenerbahce? "Domestically, for the league,” he replies, “we are a good team, forè to become champions and do well in Europe we need to intervene in the market. We will know the name of the president only tomorrow but all three candidates have approved my arrival. The director and I (Mario Branco ed.) speak the same language, he è a great connoisseur of Turkish football".
