Napoli, Antonio Conte trembles: obstacles in the race for Romelu Lukaku
The big operation must be concluded quickly, or it is in danger of fading.
Calciomercato Napoli: Antonio Conte wants at all costs to re-embrace Romelu Lukaku even in his new adventure in the Azzurri. The Belgian center forward was one of the keys to his last Italian scudetto, the 2021 one at Inter in 2021. And the club wants to please its new coach. The problems forò exist and are represented on the one hand by Chelsea, but especially on the other hand by the Saudi sirens that could tempt the Blues.
Framing the situation was provided by 'Il Corriere dello Sport' in its Saturday edition. The Roman daily recalls that Chelsea needs to sell Lukaku by June 30 in order to meet the Financial Fair Play stakes and fit the deal into the 2023-2024 fiscal year. A situation known to Napoli, but also to other candidates for the center forward. Starting with the Saudis of Al-Ittihad.
If in fact the best possible solution for Chelsea would be to cash in for Lukaku the 44 million rescission clause (a hypothesis at the moment at least unlikely), it is certain è that they aim to raise the bar as much as possible. And from this point of view, Al-Ittihad seems willing to invest more than that guaranteed by Napoli (the 'Corsport' speaks of 20-25 million). Decisive for the partenopei could therefore turn out to be the persuasive capacity precisely of Antonio Conte.
After all, Napoli could have an important treasure during the summer, the result of the farewell to Victor Osimhen, which could yield a sum close to 100 million euros. It is practically impossible, however, for this to happen by June 30, with the Azzurri leadership then having to decide whether to move in any case so as not to run the risk of having Lukaku blown away. And annoy Conte just days before his arrival.
