Holger Rune’s coach è drastic on Jannik Sinner’s defeat
Patrick Mouratoglou, coach of Holger Rune, on Instagram analyzed the Roland Garros semifinal between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, praising the Spaniard for managing to beat his rival "in one of his worst matches": "Alcaraz technically played one of the worst matches of his career and defeated the world number one".
"The lesson that emerges from the match between him and Sinner è that even when things don’t work, you can win – are the words of Mouratoglou -. He was very, very far from his level. He didn’t feel the ball well or his legs, he was extremely slow in everything he did, becauseé the emotional part was taking over".
Then the coach è went into more detail, pinpointing the turning point of the match: "Sinner was ahead 6-2, 2-0 and there was no match. All of a sudden he started to creak by feeling cramps. When you don't feel well, you focus on yourself and don't think about the guy present on the other side of the net, who in turn may not feel well. If you stay mentally lì and keep trying, you can always have a chance".
"Many people tend to complain, one thing that doesn’t work. They say to themselves: 'I don’t feel anything. I’m playing horribly and I’m going to lose the game' If you act like that, you don’t stand a chance. You have to find a way to talk to yourself so you don't sink. There'è always a hope. This mentalityà offered Alcaraz the opportunity to win in the end".
Mouratoglou concluded by explaining how the physical aspect played a big role: "We saw that Sinner cramped up quite early in the match because of the poor preparation due to the stop".
