Jannik Sinner, Iga Swiatek and all the other tennis players who will aspire to see their names in the winners’ column of the various Wimbledon draw boards are expected to receive prize money that is nothing short of incredible: according to a release from the All England Club, which organizes the Grand Slam's only tournament on grass, the total prize money for the 2024 edition amounts to 50 million pounds, about 59 million euros at today&#39s exchange rate.

The champions and runners-up in men’s and women’s singles will receive £2.7 million (3.2 million euros) and £1.4 million (1.7 million euros), respectively. Each tennis player who participates in the first round will start from a prize base of 60 thousand pounds (71 thousand euros). Prizes for men’s and women’s doubles champions also go up (650 thousand pounds, or 770 thousand euros).

In the past 10 years, therefore, the total prize money of the Wimbledon tournament è doubled from 25 million pounds in 2014 to 50 million pounds in 2024. Deborah Jevans, president of the’All England Club, commented as follows: "With only a few days to go before this year's event, I am delighted to announce a record prize pool of 50 million pounds, with increases for players in every round and every event. I am particularly pleased that we have been able to increase the prize money for the first time for competitions including wheelchair competitions, bringing it to a total of 1 million pounds (1.18 million euros, ed.)".

"Interest in attending Wimbledon has è never been greater,” Jevans added, “with unprecedented demand for tickets. Wimbledon è is an ever-growing tournament, the success of which allows us to retitle something to the athletes and our local community, strategically investing in the future".
